By the way, you’ll need Toast version 9.0.2 to burn to a Blu-Ray disc. I believe version 8 only supports up to DVD-DL

If you can use compressor, you should find Episode a walk in the park.
I’m not sure about Episode & chapter markers but even if you can’t carry them over from FCP they are just as easy to add in DVD SP.

Time to get the manual out – this is very basic stuff! An hours with the manual is the best investment you could make right now.

Can you recommend a RELIABLE compression program compatible with DVD SP? Something that does a job the same way every time like a good robot should. Something that gets the work done quickly and accurately.

No, you’ll need and application like compressor or Episode to create compatible files. As this is such a complex subject I suggest you invest in some training or spend some serious time with Google!

I’m currently using Premiere Pro cs4 but will hopefully be upgrading to Avid in a few weeks.
Unless you are getting one of the high end Avid systems, I wouldn’t consider that an upgrade! CS4 is very good.

Ok, you have way to many issues to deal with in a forum like this. Obviously one of them is that you have both DV and HDV.
But, the bottom line is that 250Kb/s is too little for a frame size of 480×270. Either increase your datarate or reduce your frame size!
At 250Kb/s I’d suggest a 16:9 frame size of no more than 384×216.
