Interesting. AJA tech support continues to focus on assumed problems with my system. Recently I’ve considered upgrading my graphics card to an FX1500 or 1700 from my current FX570, but it sounds like you didn’t do well with the FX1700 and CS4.

Perhaps a better move would be purchasing a copy of CS3 instead, which would be cheaper than a new graphics card?

I tried that, but the system still crashed like before. Thanks for the idea.

I also have an Quadro FX 570 in my system and have been having Xena problems. Did you switch yours out for another video card, and did that solve your problems?

    Tanks!

  • Tim,

I need to monitor SDI output from my Xena LH (for final color match, etc.) Would you recommend the AJA Hi5 that you mentioned above for an HDMI output to a HDTV, or the AJA HDP2 for a DVI-D output to a standard PC monitor?

Additionally, what monitor/TV would you recommend? Can’t afford to break the bank on $2-4K professional monitors…

    Thanks!

I’m feeding BetacamSP Component to the monitor. Interestingly, the system plays fine on the external monitor with SD only footage. I dumped some DV25 footage in via SDI and it plays beautifully.

I then contacted AJA tech support. The head Xena guy says he can’t get XDCAM EX footage to play through his system either. Says he’ll talk with the engineers.

So for now, it appears that the Sony XDCAM EX and the Xena card are incompatible. That’s a huge problem for the company, as my sense from this year’s NAB show was that the XDCAM EX has become the industry standard entry-level HD cam.

That’s exactly the problem. I’m watching video on my PC monitor and audio is running through the Xena card.

I’ve got the Xena card attached to the component input of a Sony Hi-Res monitor, but am not seeing the signal. I’ve set the analog video output in Machina to Component SMPTE. What am I doing wrong? (The monitor works fine when I’m capturing Betacam through component inputs or DV through the SDI input.)

My Sony monitor doesn’t have an SDI input.

MxR cards arrived from Australia today and work great in my EX1. Thanks Craig for aiming me in that direction.

My link to the Sony digital audio recorder above didn’t work. Here’s a link to a review of the recorder. Seems like a good item to have in your travel kit: https://digitalmedia.oreilly.com/2008/01/10/sony-pcm-d50-recorder-review.html. Not bad for the rebate plus $50.00 😉
