  • Aja Xena SDI and HDLINK Pro to a plasma doesn’t work…

Posted by Gabriele Turchi on January 1, 2009 at 6:23 pm

Guys does anyone have experience to use the Xena SDI and Blackmagic HDLInk Pro to connect a Plasma in HDMI?

My Plasma(Panasonic 42PZ85U) works very beautifully (after Bob Zeli (thanks!!) suggestion) connected to the component out from Xena , but it does not accept any kind of signal from SDI—>HDLink Pro conversion…

Is this because maybe the 85U accept only HDCP (copy protection) signal from the HDMI and the combination SDI—>HDLink Pro does not provide that?

    Thanks

What model are you using? The Hi5?

You mean what model of Xena?

I have the LHe (actually is the Kone LHe…but using bootcamp and XP it became the Xena…)

    Thanks

…ah, I meant the adapter…but I spaced the “HD Link Pro” portion…it’s a Black Magic product.

There is a mention on the site about a software upgrade for it to output to HDMI…is it possible that a software patch is needed?

It’s about halfway down on this page

    https://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/hdlink/

by the yellow cable graphic on the right side…it may only apply to HD Link though, not the ‘Pro’…

I’m not a BM user myself so I’m not sure of each model’s capabilities…

I think at this point that it’s an HD Link problem either way…which probably makes it more productive to ask about this issue on the Black Magic Forum…wouldn’t you think so?

The AJA equipment you have appears to be working fine.

    Tim,

I need to monitor SDI output from my Xena LH (for final color match, etc.) Would you recommend the AJA Hi5 that you mentioned above for an HDMI output to a HDTV, or the AJA HDP2 for a DVI-D output to a standard PC monitor?

Additionally, what monitor/TV would you recommend? Can’t afford to break the bank on $2-4K professional monitors…

    Thanks!

    Daniel
