Actually, I made a mistake. That didn’t solve the problem and as I said before there is no sound. I’m wondering if I did something wrong.
    Thanks.

Thank you so much. That did it. The only problem is now there is no sound. How do I keep that nicely colored export and also have sound?
    Thanks again.

    Hi Pieter,
I was wondering if you ever found an answer to this problem. I never saw your post when I originally had this problem. I overcame it by exporting in pro res 4444. Now I have 8.4. The 4444 export is giving me a half screen like it’s a half on an interlace screen. The HQ is crushing blacks etc.

If you know a solution please share it.
    Thanks.

    Thank you very much Dennis.
I have looked for Perian in my system preferences and everywhere else I can think it might be on my computer. I can’t find it. Am I missing something? I never downloaded Perian, so I’m not sure how it could have gotten on my computer. The problem started when I upgraded my operating system to Maverick. I was unable to use AVID 5.5 and had to upgrade to 7 and then 8. I have had the same export problem with both 7 and 8.

I struggled with this for a long time, asking on the AVID website forum, etc. For some reason I hadn’t thought of asking on Creative COW. I gave up and used ProRes4444 for export. I now have 30 hours of lectures I need to export. Using 4444 will eat up a ridiculous amount of hard drive space. It’s a real problem.

If you can help me find Perian on my computer or offer any other possible fixes I would greatly appreciate it.

    All my best
    Daniel

Thanks for responding to this George. I’m hopeful we will find a solution. It has been amazing to me that no one else seemed to be having this problem. I posted a long time ago on Avid and heard nothing.

I checked out that link and downloaded the suggested driver, but nothing changed with the screens. Is there anything else you think it may be?

    Quicktime is 7.6.4

    Mac OS X 10.5.8
    Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    Video Card: NIvidia GeForce 9400M
    Nividia GeForce 9600MGT

I read the read me, but can’t seem to find it again. I’m on the trial plan right now. Took the Avid class in Tewksbury last week. It’s a great program. I’m getting a lot of ticks I’m able to figure out, but these ones have been real thorns.

    Thanks.

    Hi Michael:
    Thanks for your response.
The jpegs vary in size from + or – 2.6 MB to + or – 5.8 MB. The project res is DV 25 411 MXF
I’m not sure what you mean by using the pan and zoom plug in and panning across them.

    Effects window:
When I open the window it is normal.
When I double click on an effect or effects folder, the windows go black. if I click on a the window again I can then read only the effect or effect folder I click on.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Hi Jon:
Thanks for responding to my post.

Jpeg: My image import settings are
    “don not resize smaller images,
    Computer RGB (0-255)
    ordered for current format
    invert on import”

Black effects windows: I’m not sure what QT specs are.

    I like your Whitman quote.

    Hi.
I’m new to media composer and am having the same problem importing jpegs to media composer. Can you please tell me how to use after affects to fix it? It seems like it should be a really easy thing to do.
    Thanks.
