Hmmm… I might switch my order to XP64 then as I was getting 4gb (2gb sticks) with room left for another 4gb later on assuming that 32bit would work ok with 4gb. (Even if it didn’t use it all.)

You could also try CC Bendit, depending on how much twist you need it might give the distorted effect you need.

I was considering XP64 but have been scared off by the supposed lack of drivers and nightmares of software not working.

I suppose I’ll have to make do on 4gb of RAM and wait for Vista64 to be stable and well-supported. Sigh….

Does anyone here actually use XP64bit?

I did something similar with an animated 3d character. I overlayed “frost” in AE & the character wiped a circle in the screen to look through. It looked pretty good.

I used a combination of adjustment layers & textures.

    From memory…

Adjustment layer added blur, a slight blue-ish tint and desaturation & some displacement from the ice layer above to simulate looking through a sheet of ice.

I had a couple of different photos of ice & ice cracks at varying layers of opacity above. I played around with different ways of getting transparency such as mapping luminance to the alpha channel.. basically until it looked right.

I then just made an animated luma matte to “wipe” away the adjustment and texture layers as appropriate. (In your case the animated text)

    Hope that helps a bit.

You guys are legends. Cheers. I had no idea about the multiprocessor/ram thing.

Does anyone have any recommendations about suitable cheaper graphics card?

    Thanks for the quick response.

So with multiple cores, you can utilise over 4gb of RAM? I had no idea about that. Is this only After Effects that does this? (e.g. Photoshop etc?)

We are currently still with CS2, but will be looking at upgrading to get best use of the quad core chip.

Would you (or anyone else) have a suggestion on a suitable video card? From my research the main thing seems to be that it fully supports openGl 2.0 and is on Adobe’s reccomended list.

    Thanks for your help.
