I have v14. Beware of freebies that came with v14 but do not come with later versions. I have absolutely the need for vital professional Mercalli ProDAD for video stabilization. If you work with later version you likely cannot then open it in a previous version of Magix or Sony, so best to work with earlier version first if you need any v14 freebies. A previous post in Creative Cow stated that stabilization in latest version created a freeze.

Right-click video in Project Media tab > select Create Video Proxy.

Set Preview Window to Draft or Preview

Set Preview Window back to Good or Best > original HD versions of videos will play instead.

    Good day Gentlemen,

In hindsight of not receiving any reply, on reflection, I wish to apologise for asking too basic a question towards such an august group of professionals. I hope to ask more profound questions when I am self-taught. I expect though we all started at a basic level in video editing and progressed from there.

    All the best,

    Thanks Mike.
It appears Magix is not quite so generous as former Sony as to the number of machines their software can be installed with the same registration: Magix = 2, Sony = any number.

With your info, I can now consider a Threadripper upgrade. Will be interesting to eventually know whether Pro v14 can accommodate all cores and threads in rendering. Real world rendering likely will differ from the theoretical.
