I read the whole thread and it gave me hope. I have an old warhorse…..EX-1…..V1.02 _ 0337.

I have called Sony twice but have not heard back. Surprising as they are usually very professional. I follow a policy that if it ain’t broke don’t fix it but now I need to make a firmware update to be able to use larger capacity cards.

So, has anyone successfully updated an EX-1from V1.02?

BTW, this is the best camera I have ever owned……not one single glitch!!!

We had this problem when we keyed our walkie talkies (Motorola). By accident, we noticed that it only happened when the lens stabilization was on.

Check out dynamicmotionvideo.com. My EX-1 weights 8.4lbs when fully dressed out which is too heavy for my wimpy arms.. I bought the “CB105” and added a Pelican case with a 12v gelcell to offset the camera’s weight. Like a seesaw it balances quite well and still allows you to tilt up or down. The top of the Pelican case provides a great place to velcro a receiver. My total investment was less than $100.00. BTW, last Saturday night, I used this shoulder bracket for about two hours. Pain and more pain. First time in years that I carried a camera on my shoulder. I talked with a trainer and he said the shoulder muscles were the weakest muscles in your body and suggested some simple freeweight exercises.

SORRY about the redundant posts. There is a glitch on my part or on the forum.
    Either way…….sorry.

    Jeremy,

That really narrows my list down to the HV30. I thought the SR12 was the best choice but getting the footage into Edius was going to be a pain in the butt.

    Thanks for the correction.

    Everyone,

Thanks for the feedback. I think it will be the Canon HV30 or the Sony SR12. The next problem will be editing that AVCHD format in Edius.

I am buying the Oktava MK012A Russian mic. When I really thought about my actual needs, the Russian mic was ovbious. I never need to record at a distance but rather at three to eight feet. My biggest need is to exclude noise as I shoot on the run and quite often in a busy room. The size of the mic and the price are very attractive also.
