    I think you’re leaving out some important details. It looks like you want your object to move a set distance at the start of a sound, but then not respond further to that sound. Then what? Does it stay there? What happens when the next sound comes?

    It looks to me like you’re assuming in your code that you can set a varaible (B) and it’s value will persist to subsequenct frames. It won’t. That’s not to say that what you’re trying to do can’t be done, it’s just a little tricky.

    A more detailed description of what it is exactly that you’re trying to do would be helpful.

    This seems to work:

    var myComp = app.project.activeItem;

    var myLayer;
    var myLayerArray = [];
    myLayerArray[0] = myComp.layer(1);
    var gotIt;

    for (var i = 2; i <= myComp.numLayers; i++){ myLayer = myComp.layer(i); gotIt = false; for (var j= 0; j < myLayerArray.length; j++){ if (myLayer.property("position").value[0] < myLayerArray[j].property("position").value[0]){ myLayerArray.splice(j,0,myLayer); gotIt = true; break; } } if(! gotIt) myLayerArray[myLayerArray.length] = myLayer; } myLayerArray[0].moveToBeginning(); for (var i = 1; i < myLayerArray.length; i++){ myLayerArray[i].moveAfter(myComp.layer(i)); } Dan

    IK and bones for the puppet tool would be nice and are things we can hope to see in the future. In the mean time, you can establish rigid IK relationships between pins using expressions.

    Probably. However, I haven’t seen a good algorithm anywhere that I was tempted to try and implement in AE’s expression language. The built-in angular constraints of 2D make the math relatively simple – I suspect 3D would be a little messy.

  • Expressions can’t create or reposition markers.

    If I’m understanding you correctly, it seems like you should be able to handle your position animation the same way you did the white flashes – trigger it based on the layer’s out point.

  • Give this one a try:

    fadeFrames = 6;

    fadeTime = fadeFrames*thisComp.frameDuration;
    opat = 0;
    for (i = 1; i <= thisComp.numLayers; i++){ if (i == index) continue; L = thisComp.layer(i); if (! (L.hasVideo && L.active)) continue; if ((time > fadeTime) && (time <= L.inPoint + fadeTime)){ opat = easeOut(time, L.inPoint, L.inPoint + fadeTime, 100, 0) break; }else if (time > L.outPoint – fadeTime){
    opat = easeIn(time, L.outPoint – fadeTime, L.outPoint, 0, 100);
    break;
    }
    }
    opat

  • Something like this should work. It assumes that the In Point of the currently visible layer is where you want the flash to occur. It also suppresses the flash at time = 0.

    fadeFrames = 6;

    fadeTime = fadeFrames*thisComp.frameDuration;
    opat = 0;
    for (i = 1; i <= thisComp.numLayers; i++){
      if (i == index) continue;
      L = thisComp.layer(i);
      if (! (L.hasVideo && L.active)) continue;
      if ((time > fadeTime) && (time <= L.inPoint + fadeTime)){
      opat = easeOut(time, L.inPoint, L.inPoint + fadeTime, 100, 0)
        break;
      }
    }
    opat

  • More info would help. So are you trying to get the white solid to fade up as you approach a layer’s Out Point and fade down as you move away from it?
