Well there you have it. The 24P pull down is causing the problem. Find the camera and put a warning on it, Do not use the 24p mode.

This could be one of two issues.

One, the tape was shot in the 24 frame mode. This mode is pretty bad and pans really don’t work.

Two, the studder you see is really not there. I have seen this before, but when I did a test render to say Windows Media 9, the results looked fine. I figured that my computer just couldn’t decode the pan fast enough since everything was moving.

    Charley,

You have not provided enough information. What codec does the device need. IE: AVI, MPEG, Windows Media, Quicktime?

If it is a standard compression scheme, then it’s quite possible that you can pull it off. You may need to import a plugin to do it.

  • It’s impossible to say what is going on. Here is what I think is happening. Your LCD or Viewfinder on your camera is giving you bad information. It’s probably set too bright. This would explain why when yo uprint to tape it looks closer to what you thought you had.

The only way to tell for sure is to run the playback video out from you camera into a waveform monitor and check the levels that are coming out of you camera.

You need to check this against the waveform monitor in Vegas. This will also tell you if there is a problem with the monitoring out of your computer.

If you do not have access to a waveform monitor. Record color bars in your camera and then bring them in firewire to Vegas. Check the levels on the wave form. The peak of level from the colorbars should be around 100% give or take a few IRE.

If this is what you see then the viewfinder/LCD in your camera is too bright and the camera is not really recording what you see. This is a common prblem for anyone who shoots with LCD’s.

Build the background in photoshop and or vegas and Photoshop. Make sure that you build the drop shadow in to the background. Here is a sample of a Vegas/Photoshop background. No drop shadows, but there are some other interesting things.

    https://www.albatrossmedia.com/images/Digital%20stuff/govcup.wmv

Right click anywhere below where it says menu on the DVD work area. Choose set media and select your photoshop file or Video from Vegas.

Now since you have put de-defocused black boxes where you are going to place your Icons, you will have a deop shadow ready to go.

If you have trouble E-mail me and I’ll send you a sample.
