Interesting, though that does seem an odd limitation or bug. From what I can recall, my past experience has been that 24fps plays out at 24fps.

No, I did not pre-render. Also, tried a comp setter (though have to admit I don’t know much about them)but it did not change the situation.

Thank you Michael. I usually compress at around 6.5 to 7 max, but when it is showing that 8 is actually 6.5 I thought I’d see if I can push it to that. I tried it on many dvd players that have problems with high bit rates and it seems to work fine.

I have one particular shot that is in a very busy environment (tracking shot through a busy store isle with lots of contrasting colours). Shot looks good in 4k and resed-down SD quicktime but the m2v compression keeps falling apart.

  • Thanks a lot for this reply Bartek.

Unfortunately, we thought that the camera view might have changed as well. But it wasn’t that, it was one of the first things we checked.

    Any other thoughts?

    Cheers,

According to the Adobe team, they were telling me that it is a build thing and they will try to address this in build 4.0.2.

I’m not sure if that is what is taking place at the point of failure, but I “click” import” and and the yellow line streaks across as if importing is taking place, but nothing ever appears in the project window.

Yes, thank you, I’ve seen the video and my workflow is exactly the same. What I have discovered is that I can import xmls from FCP if the source material was ProRes. The problem I’m having is importing XMLs from FCP where the source material was Proxies from R3Ds.

Note: a friend is doing the same workflow with proxies and he is able to import the proxy-based XMLs. We are doing the same workflow. Not sure what I’m missing.

And what is the best way to output to any of these monitors – I don’t have to capture for everything is injested via firestore or P2 and if I output to some sort of HD tape format I will go to another facility.

Second question – I don’t have to now, but if I output to tape at another facility, is it important to find out if they are using a Aja or Blackmagic and render under a particular codec for best output?

Third question – what about 720p 23.98 – what are my options for best viewing on a monitor?

    Thanks for any info,
    Dale

I agree – the HD monitor thing has been driving me crazy too. As for the Panny 26 – what model are you refering to? Also, what do you need to output to this monitor?

Was thinking of using Matrox MXO and out to downrez’d SD, but colour detail is not the same and they say the Matrox MXO con’t output 720 24p.

Any straight forward solutions without another arm and leg?
