hello…
well – dreamweaver is wysiwyg, or you can hand-code it…however it is a pricey piece of software, so i can’t just say that’s what you need – i personally hand-code everything and find that quite satisfactory, but that’s just me…
maybe download a demo of dw and see if it’s to your liking?

hello…
unfortunately, building a website is not a simple checklist… 🙁
to roughly go through your list – there isn’t a single place to get templates – there are thousands of places that will sell templates of varying quality, so about all i can offer is to google up a few. never used them myself, so i don’t have any valid resources on that…
after you build the site, you register a domain at a place like network solutions or register or the likes, or, you can find a 3rd party isp (host, which you’ll need anyway) and have them set up the domain and point it to their name servers. otherwise, you’ll register the name yourself, set up a 3rd party hosting plan (search this forum for recommendations, or again google a few) and then point the name servers for your domain to that 3rd party’s name servers.
then after it’s all set up, ftp your website up to the folder the isp provides and the site is online…
unfortunately, that’s the process – a book could devote entire chapters to this process, so it’s hard to answer it all here…i would also recommend google for this and type things like “setup website faq” or the likes…
hope that helps and i’m really not trying to be snippy – you just sort of asked a very broad question that is hard to answer in a forum post…

hello…
[avrnosn] “So now, you may ask, what’s the problem – why not charge as much as I feel like up to that amount”
i wouldn’t ask that at all – that’s a lot to charge somebody for something, and i don’t believe in gouging people just because you can…
and wrt to the price – it does depend on the amount of video work done, but i’d say for the site alone (separating the video and assuming that it was handed to me all done and ready to go), i’d say probably in the $750 range maybe? then tack on your video work and you’ll get a total… 🙂

hello…
you can’t really assign a fixed price to a site – typically you make an estimate up front and then try to keep to that. in your case with learning, it’s harder, but then you should figure what it’s worth to you to do the site and learn at the same time and talk with the client and let them know that and give them a number…you are very at risk at this stage of having to eat a lot of cost because your client has no idea what you’ll be charging…
say, for example, that i told you here that a site with that type of content, video, etc. etc. should be worth $1000 – could you go to your client now with a $1k bill in hand and get paid?
if you totally treated it as a learning experience and you’ve had no discussions about cost to this point, then i’d go to your client and ask them they think the site is worth and go from there. you can’t now blind-side them with an invoice for an amount, as what you invoice for may be _Way_ more than they can/want to pay…then if that happens, you’re stuck either just lowering your total (which is going to look odd to the client – if you can just lower the bill, why were you charging so much in the first place) or just burn the bridge with the client and try to get them to pay – either is not a good situation, i’m afraid… 🙁
all of this said, that site looks like it would typically go in the $500 – $1k range (considering the quality of work and also factoring in assumptions about that client being a smaller fish in the world, which is also a factor and not meant to be an insult to them), although it would depend how much video editing had to happen – if you did a lot of video work, the site gets much more expensive quick…
hope that helps…

April 15, 2007 at 2:02 am in reply to: Adding Control Panel for Embedded Flash Movieshello…
short answer is that you have to write one – those controls are added automatically by the qt or wmv movie player, so in flash you’ll need to write your own in actionscript…

hello…
i realize you’re at least partially kidding, but let me tell you – money does not afford you quality software engineers…there is a real shortage these days of good, reliable senior software engineers in this country, so i feel even apple’s woes when it comes to not having enough of them to go around…

hello…
ya – you can use divs with an overflow:auto attribute to create a frame effect (with all the content on one page), but there is another post reply to this that holds true – can you offer up a use case for what you’re doing so that we can better help you out?
frames are not necessarily evil, but you are correct that there are other options – just need more info on your goals to better suggest an appropriate option for you… 🙂

hello…
sorry – not a golive person so i can’t answer that, but if you can apply html attributes to all the links, then you could add a target=”_blank” attribute to all the href links, which would have the same effect…
hope that helps!

hello…
do you have an example of your code available perchance? hard to evaluate without seeing your specific situation… :-/
