April 12, 2007 at 11:25 pmI almost had a breakdown when I saw this on “apple.com/hotnews”. Its not really hot news either. There are a lot of developers losing money because they have built great leopard apps, but at this point have no market to sell too. Apple is really cutting it short.
I was hoping to buy a New Mac Pro with Leopard with it, but I guess I’ll just wait.Video Specialist

April 13, 2007 at 11:14 pmIt sucks that Apple has sold out, just to prioritize a bloody mobile phone OS. Financially it will be good for them, but Apple are a professional hardware/software company, they should prioritize that. Not concentrate on mobile phones for crying out loud; what next, microwave ovens and toasters.
Considering the new 8-core macs suck with the current OS, I think folk are hoping the now delayed Leopard was going to work better with 8-core, but not for another 6 months it would appear.

April 14, 2007 at 8:54 amTrue, but this is taking it a tad too far really. But then it is all about money I suppose.

April 14, 2007 at 8:56 amIn hindsight, with all the money they made from that little music player, you’d think they could afford to hire a few more software developers/coders/writers, instead of taking the OSX guys off their job to write a phone OS 😉

April 14, 2007 at 3:50 pmhello…
i realize you’re at least partially kidding, but let me tell you – money does not afford you quality software engineers…there is a real shortage these days of good, reliable senior software engineers in this country, so i feel even apple’s woes when it comes to not having enough of them to go around…

April 15, 2007 at 6:23 amIt is more complicated than all that. OS X is on Apple TV and the iPhone as well as who knows what else that is secret. Add to that the huge changes in 10.5 and it isn’t about number of engineers really. It is all one bigger project that they kept expanding the scope of. That said, yeah, I doubt they expanded the team as needed.
