just out of interest why would you avoid HDV at all costs?

I think that this may be the problem but finding the correct media 100 codec has been difficult the one on their site will not install automatically and just opens with stuffit and sits there not installing on the desktop(maybe it’s just me).

i did get a way round it and that was to upgrade to qtime pro and and then convert the files to 8 bit uncompressed files through qtime pro. It works now but I’ve had to convert my entire library to use in fcp but at least it works.

Only problem now was when I was trying to use compressor to export the new files from FCP (convert to mpeg 2 60 min high quality) to use in dvd stdio pro, compressor locks up and freezes (needing a computer shut down ) at around 600 frames (the project is 5 mins long).

The only way round this was to export using self contained qtime again ( Pal 48khz)not compressor and import these into dvd studio pro.

Still it works at the moment (using this method) I’ll look at the compressor problem later (need a break from the glitches at the moment)

    thansk for everyones input

The qtimes are broadcast files gathered over many years from digi-beta stock.

Tho original stock is in various locations hence why they are all on my Lacie drive it holds all my video records..this is backed up on my G5 harddrive but I’m having the same problem there…so its something to do with the FCP studio upgrade and the filess having originaly been exported to qtime files via media 100. Everything worked before the upgrade!

I think I may be missing some special codec for qtime someone suggested I need to install fcp with the media 100 codec in place already but surely I dont have to re-install fcp just to add a codec or for it to work??
