Got my answer. I kept reading that it could be done in Server and didn’t realize that meant Enterprise Server and not Workgroup Server.

So I talked to Small Tree about their Titanium solution which they say would allow us to access HD footage across the network in real time. Is there anyone using CatDV with Titanium instead of a Facilis? How is does it work for you?
Any feedback would be appreciated.

June 13, 2012 at 12:32 pm in reply to: MacBook Pro with a Retina display … is that a young persons thing?I have forty some year old eyes and I work on a 15″ everyday. When I’m not in the field I hook it up to the 27″ on my desk. Having said all that, I just got tri-focal contacts sooo…

I think Apple needs to make a big point of encouraging updated hardware with FCPX or editors will be disappointed in the performance.
I think that’s key. My MBP chokes on it and it frustrates the heck out of me. While we do have an edit suite. I mostly use the MBP cause I’m in the field most of the time. We have Premiere 5.5 and I have been demoing CS6. I disagree with those calling it FCP8. It has nice features but the stupid stuff it does with target tracks and other annoying stuff makes me miss FCP7.

Hey Dennis,
Just downloaded the trial. I’m wondering why the Blade tool still doesn’t snap to the playhead. I also would think it logical for the playhead to jump to the cutline after a Ripple or Roll. Am I missing something?

April 25, 2012 at 1:08 pm in reply to: Guardian – Why doesn’t apple employ more US workersUnfortunately, this is how businesses are. They don’t care that workers aren’t making a living wage. They don’t care that workers are committing suicide. It’s all about the profits. I have no doubt that Apple would use 10 year old children in those factories if it was legal and could save them some money.
While in Vegas last week. I bought a small bottle of water for $5. After realizing how stupid that was, I wondered “where is this money going?”. I’d bet my house that the guy that sold it to me isn’t seeing it. He’s probably working two or three jobs to stay above water.

That’s because the Adobe booths were really small in those years compared to Apple’s and Avid’s. I was never attracted to the Adobe booths then even though I was a big AE, PS and AI user. This year was a lot different. A large booth and exciting demos.

– What (new) 3rd party plugin devs are on board, ESPECIALLY to create transition plugins? For example, it would be awesome to have FxFactory show up in PPro.
Ditto!

March 27, 2012 at 8:17 pm in reply to: Illustrator turns 25 today. Thoughts on it, Luddites and FCP XIllustrator was the first program that I learned while I was co-oping at NASA. The contractors didn’t want to teach me anything. The manager wouldn’t give me any work, so I went into the conference room everyday, watched the tape and mastered the Pen tool. Photoshop was the second. When I did go back to school, I was a guru.
