<p>It&#8217;s still $828 a year or $69/mo for Ultimate. I&#8217;d hate to lock into a year at that price if Apple is going to integrate key features into FCP or, at least, have a much lower tiered pricing. I have to imagine this is going to stall new subscriptions until Apple indicates where&hellip;</p>

Don't shame me please!</a></p> <div class="bb-content-inr-wrap"><p>If you can afford a used computer, you can get a used MacMini with an Apple Silicon M-series chip for $400 or so. I&#8217;ve seen them as low as $200, although with minimal RAM (8GB, but you&#8217;d want 16GB) and a small (250GB) internal SSD. I&#8217;d avoid Intel chip Macs at this point. The entire Creator Studio with Final Cut Pro is only $13 a month. </p>

<p>It&#8217;s not like they would be in a great situation to find a competitor to do this. There&#8217;s an additional time and possible encoder cost to meet this format.</p>

My guess is there&#8217;s license issues around that. </p>
<p>Telestream Flip4Mac encoded to WMV9 but also involved a license and has long since been discontinued (a few years ago). The commercial encoders such as Telestream Episode and Sorenson Squeeze supported it but they are also long gone. </p>

All modern Windows computers support h.264 .mp4</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re working with a client that doesn&#8217;t know this you should correct them. </p>

<p>If the issue is quality it&#8217;s possible the codec that was used to compress the original was very efficient. Perhaps they reduced the number of Key Frames (keyframes are larger than P and especially B frames) but you&#8217;re not talking about quality but size. So your response is either&hellip;</p>

<p>It&#8217;s very simple. Lowering the data rate lowers the file size. Depending on the codec though it will lower the quality. How visible that is depends on the content, frame size, and frame rate.</p>

Normally that shouldn&#8217;t be possible from a camera card. In your case, FCP thought it was an external drive. You may have to put in the card and then use FCP&#8217;s Consolidate function to <b>move the media to an always-connected drive.</b></p>

<p>It&#8217;s sort of like HDCP (copy protection) which allows you to play a video but prevents electronic copying. Or maybe it&#8217;s like what&#8217;s done with playing Netflix or AppleTV on your computer. You can see the movie but if you try to record it with Quicktime the video is blank.</p>

I use Sony Z90 and FX3 and everything imports straight in. Perhaps the transcodes are the issue.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s not clear what you mean by &#8220;artifacts&#8221; because there are different causes. Wait for the Flow transition to render. Personally, I prefer to use MotionVFX mMorphCut. It&#8217;s&hellip;</p>

<p>In VLC on your computer check the Information to see the codec.</p>
<p>On her computer have her open it in Quicktime to see if it plays there.</p>
<p>You don&#8217;t mention which macOS or version of FCP but that is certainly a factor so please note that information.</p>

It would be slow on an Intel Mac though. </p>

RX is up to version 10 now and I don&#8217;t think this is or will change.</p>
<p>Other options like Accusounus have come and gone. CrumplePop went from FXFactory distribution to BorisFX and looks like it&#8217;s more expensive than it used to be.&hellip;</p>
