May 10, 2023 at 12:32 pmThat subscription bothers me. No real need for it. And FCPX still needs a major update. I guess for a few folks this will be helpful, or just fun, maybe.

May 10, 2023 at 2:18 pmI suspect this means lots of AI features will be in the next updates to FCP.
Given that LumaFusion and Resolve on iPad are more advanced and less expensive I have to suspect this leading to much more significant changes. Perhaps cloud-based collaboration features in the near future.

May 10, 2023 at 4:14 pmI would suspect this means that Apple does not have plans to kill FCP. I would also caution against thinking they are going to “improve” or add more features than what’s going into the iPad version. I think they are more than happy with FCP being the professional single-user-creator app, as opposed to adding the features that DVR or others have that make them more collaborative. There’s a healthy plug-in community making the add-ons that those single-users need for their specific workflow so, “Why complicate things?” is what I imagine Apple are saying.

May 13, 2023 at 2:17 amI’ve been doing audio with a full blown DAW using Auria and an Apogee Quartest on my iPads for YEARS! Way too little too late, and I never paid a subscription for it. And yes, I can take that stuff into LPX on my Mac. I think Apple made it quite clear with the videos and promo shots these apps are for YT folks, not TV broadcast or feature film. That’s not their market any longer.

June 2, 2023 at 7:17 pmThanks Oliver. Being an “old guy” myself, but teaching Gen Z kids, I can see them jumping on this. The amount of things they are doing on the iPad already is impressive and the amount of shooting they do on an iPhone is equally so. Sure, maybe not for the long form market, but I can see spot rough cuts and certainly web and social content being done on an iPad all day long. I just wish Libraries and media can be sourced from and output to external drives. Maybe sometime soon.

Okay, Im kidding but you never know.
Glad to see after the initial drama with FCPX that it’s still in the conversation here.
