Hi All – I was just wondering if the new release of Compressor can give me as fantastic a result as episode does for my MPEG2 files I use for DVD authoring… (source is 1080i)

I know episode is a few years out of date, but it’s still great software for making high quality MPEG 2 files. I replaced compressor with that, years ago, but now since it’s no longer around, I wondered how many of you use it?

    Thanks!

I was a big Telestream Episode user back in the day. Actually started using it when it was still Compression Master owned by Popwire, which Telestream bought. I used Episode right up to the point Telestream killed it.

Given Episode development stopped many years ago I don’t think anyone has attempted a comparison with the current version of Apple Compressor. Episode certainly had a lot more control and settings. But the demand for MPEG 2 has probably been in decline which means this testing is even less likely.

Sorry, but it would be interesting and maybe just a bit academic if someone tested this.

Yes it’s great, it offers modern features and optimizations. Many users have successfully transitioned from Episode to Compressor and are satisfied with the results.
