Wow 7-8 min in after effects is crazy talk – first question what are you doing to the footage or grading comping etc – second question where is the file stored ? On system drive – FireWire etc . AE is meant to be a shot by shot composer so chunky files it Hates – also check how much ram you have as this can be sucked up in the ram preview – I suggest break the footage down into chincks – do your ae magic – export and stich back in your fav editor !

    Hi Guys

All I can say is – I love the upgrade to bits – along with the Episode plugin I am able to ‘share’ direct from FCP and keep on editing – Perfect for our busy workflow – I personally am happy with this update – along with the Hyperthreading on the new processors I believe Apple are putting their soldiers in line for SL – Also the killing of SHAKE makes me wonder what is going down between NUKE and Apple – a buyout of that amazing product …. makes me wonder – NUKE on Iphone – MAN ALIVE that would be the day ! ha

Hi Stella – I do loads of conversion from NTSC/24/pal and the best I have seen in my workflow is believe it or nit compressor – some gotchas to look out fir is audio sync and duplicated frames -best practice is to find 20 sec of moving pictures and test that with different settings – hope this helps

  • The guys are so right with the H264 issues I have had sucess and this us what I did – download X264 it is a enhancement plugin for 264 and encodes like a rock nut better still keeps the gamma looking better then standard 264 – also use handbrake as the new verson handles all files and can do batch encode – I have a movie library I call on now and then fir pitch work – this works perfect fir our needs – hope this helps
