Thanks for your responses, I appreciate your time. @Noah-I think I may have to get one and try it. @Brent- I did try running the cables directly into the recorder but there was no response or recognition of the camera. I tried running a VCR deck and an old mini DV camcorder and both worked with the recorder. I wasn’t sure what else to try.

    Hi Scott,
I can’t say that I have resolved the issue however I did come up with a work around. SInce I was dealing mainly with photos from Photoshop I ended up getting After Effects and everything has been much smoother. I still try to use Motion once in a while since I have it but It just isn’t working right. I know that this isn’t much help. Good Luck.

    Thanks for the response!
Most if not all of the people that will be getting the DVDs of the games don’t have Blu-ray. Would it be better to shoot at a lower res and use less compression? What would look the best considering the SD limitations? I don’t mind not distributing in HD, but I need to get the quality a little better.

    Hi Dave,

I was getting the spinning beach ball of doom. I have also updated everything. I am pretty much out of ideas. I think that I am going to start using After Effects and avoid the problem altogether. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, repaired permissions, repaired disks, etc… Too many hours have been wasted being unproductive. Thanks for the reply.

    Thanks for the reply Don.
Regarding the XDCAM Transfer, I am using a Seagate SATA 1 TB drive with 3 Gb/s at 7200 RPM. I uninstalled the XDCAM Transfer program and reinstalled and I am getting a capture rate around around where you say about 1.5 x faster.
Regarding my other post is another story. After a lot of research and different experiments I have come to the conclusion that it is Motion files that are the culprit. None of my other projects have crashed, only the one that has the Motion files. I did however uncover a problem with my main hard drive where all my applications reside. I ran Tech Tool and eventually ran the OS install disk to repair the drive. Somebody on another forum suggested a workaround that worked for him. So I am in the process of converting all my Motion files into .Mov files and then I will try to redo my sequence with these files. Hopefully this will provide a workaround until I can go get After Effects. Although I am fairly new to this business it seems to me that if Apple is going to package Motion in their suite it should work seamlessly. I know that there are many variables in effect here and I give props to the gurus such as yourself who take the time to help all of us in need.
    Thanks again,

    Hi All,
I am having the same issues. One difference is that I get an error message that states “The application Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly. The problem may have been caused by the ProMedia plug-in.” According to a poster on the Apple discussions forum this may have something to do with using Motion files, which I have a ton since I was doing a Ken Burns style project. I am using:
    Mac Pro
    Dual-core Intel Xenon
    4 GB memory
    FCP 6.0.4
    Motion 3.0.2
The problem seems to happen mostly when scrubbing through the timeline. I also tried to send it to Compressor and the audio job processed but the video would make it about halfway through and then FCP would crash again. I have not had any problems until about 08/04/08. I would greatly appreciate any help.

    Craig
