Re-encoding the ac3 file by itself worked. I didn’t rename it or do anything but delete the M2v file and submit it. Oddly, I got the same yellow warning symbol on the ac3 file but it worked anyway. At least I think it worked, I havent’ burned one yet. Thanks for the suggestions and help!

I didn’t think to look on the timeline to see if I had accidentally shut that off. I know it works if I scrub through it. I’m not at the office right now and will check this when I get back. I did not export to a quicktime movie. The M2v file is complete. Yes I was doing compression for a DVD. As far as the overwrite issue, I have changed the file names and destination folders multiple times with the same result. I know the M2v file is only video, just wanted all to have a clear picture of what was happening. I hadn’t thought about eliminating the M2v file and running it again ac3 file only. Good idea..Thanks, I’ll post my findings later.

I will say that the entire M2v file went to it’s target destination and when I double click on it, I get a beautiful movie that opens up in mpeg streamclip. I have no audio. The audio file didn’t encode or show up in the target destination file with the video. Twice however, in two different files, I had the same result with the video and without the audio. Also note, the yellow warning triangle appeared on the audio file as well, but when I clicked on the first symbol, the audio symbol went away and never came back.

Hi Tom. Your diligence is appreciated. I can’t think of a place on the web I can upload the screen shot. I shot it with my phone and sent it to my email account. I can email it and was trying to see if there was a way to send it to my post, but I know nothing of HTML code etc…pretty sure I’ll blow up the Cow’s server if I try to mess with that.

ok. I’ll sniff around on some previous posts on how to post a screenshot. I’ve never done one. I know it’s not a drive issue. I just encoded a shorter project the day before and a large blu ray project last weekend with no issues.

The warning doesn’t use the verbage “can’t re-encode”, just that it will overwrite the file that exists with the same name. That’s why I changed the name of the file, 3 different times with the same weird result. I assume by when you call it an “output file”, that we are on the same page as this is a compressor issue as this is where the warning symbol is at. FCP quitting and the file warning may or not be related and may be the same problem???

I think you and Donal O Kane are on a similar track as to why the project fails in the master sequence. I can double click on any of the sequences, and after they open in the time line, they play perfect. maybe it is a re-render issue, but trashing my render files is a task I can find no information on. I wouldn’t have a clue on how to do that and as usual, by trying, I’m sure it would cause other problems. That is why I may be better off looking for a different software. Too many issues with FCP. I just want to edit, not spend months researching an answer to the software. -
I’m not sure if this is where I can ask this, but is there a different software than FCP that can handle multiple camera’s better? I’ve been on this project for almost a year and can’t get it to work. I figure if I can’t get it to work with advice from such proven experts here, I haven’t a chance of getting it by myself. I used Adobe before I graduated to FCP and had zero issues with using different camera’s but the finished DVD’s stalled often and the quality was really pixelated. Disappointing as I actually liked the software, just couldn’t get the quality high enough. I have heard rumors that Avid has no issues with multiple camera’s and the finished DVD is a high quality product. Do any of you have any first hand knowledge if this is true or not or if any other program is out there that would fit my needs better?

That’s a generous offer. I’m not sure how to do that as it’s two and a half hours long. I had the same offer to see someone in person last Thursday but when I got there and we tried to load it on his computer, it wouldn’t as he had an older version of FCP than my V7.
I appreciate you hanging in there though.

I tried it and a few different times with no difference. One thing else that I know must be a clue, this camera doesn’t need to be rendered because of the match in settings. At least it hasn’t up to this point in the project. In this offending clip it does need rendering. I do a Command nine to check the properties and all seems ok. Stumped. The two problems must be related. Been looking at this screen for a week now.
I do appreciate you taking a shot at it though.
