I think Apple’s designs its UI to be as clean and uncluttered as possible, perhaps, at times, at the expense of intuitiveness. The save dialog box works almost identically to finder window navigation in general. Each parent folder is highlighted. The folder that the file will be saved in is the rightmost column. In the save dialog box, directly above the columns (in a separate pull down menu) is the parent folder in which the file will be saved. What I find unintuitive is why clicking on a grayed out name would actively do anything. Grayed out has always meant

Mac Help mentions something about being able to password protect shared folders. Maybe it means over a network. I would just like to not have to log out all the time and feel safe that my 6 year old won’t mess with certain folders.

Thanks. I had come to the same conclusion. I saved it as a MS Excell 97-2002… workbook and it opened on the PC. Maybe it has to do with the Mac office suite being later than whatever is on the PC. In any case, problem solved. I’m pretty sure I’ve opened files int he past without this extra step, but whatever.

There has been a “fail to wake from sleep” issue with some combo’s of software and hardware/monitors. Do a search and see if you can’t track down the problem. If you suspect it might be your third party keyboard, try using the mac standard and see if it clears up the issue. If it does, talk to your keyboard company and see if they have a fix.

All ram is not created equal. Crucial is a good recommendation. Can’t they ship to England?

Make your own clapper. Get in front of the lens and slap anything together that will easily be recognizable on the audio. Two sticks work good. Also the sound will be recorded on your cam as well. You might do a search for mini-disc recording. I remember reading an article in dv mag (I believe) that talked about using this combo. It was around the time everyone was complaining about the buzz on the pd150.

It’s completely unintuitive that you can’t reopen the windows by selecting them from the pull down menu. Apple’s interface design, at times, unclutters to the point of making operations invisible.

Even with a new project using all the new software? Or does it mess up settings only on the old projects?
