Automator the app which is installed with os 10.4 should do this and I’m sure someone here can even explain how. What I would try is the rename action, adding the suffix to all the files you need.

Try wiebetech.com. Great service and great products. Email weibetech and ask them about bus powered options. I think it’s always better to use a power cord while editing but see what they say or do a search here on the cow for bus powered firewire.
If you have been using your system drive to edit, now might be a good time to backup, erase, and reinstall. Keep your media on the firewire drive and your project files on your system drive.

moving the entire folder called thunderbird in the library folder did the trick. the profile is in this folder but could not be moved by itself.

There now is talk of getting me a better space with possibly smooth concrete floors. That would certainly help the installation. Paint could be a cheaper alternative though awfully rough on legs and dropped equipment over the course of the year. I

Not sure what you mean by “bumbs.” Do you mean it switches to the next speed in the middle of a zoom? If that’s the case, the zoe will solve the problem. The zoe lets you dial in a speed. Did you read Wayne’s article? It explains the advantages and the limitations clearly. Not sure if you can ramp from 0 to first speed on your lens. Most of the prosumer level cams do not allow this. But the first speed is pretty slow. What I like to do is set a maximum speed on the zoe dial. Then I use the rocker to simulate a slow ramp up to that maximum speed. It’s not as good as a pro level lens control but it’s close.

Not sure if the xl1s stock lens is stepped or not. It will not eliminate any built in zoom steps in the lens mechanism — if step 1 goes from 0 to 5 mph (as an analogy) it cannot change that. But I know on cam zoom controls are a lot harder to control than a good 3rd party zoom controller. A good one makes it very smooth and controlled. The Zo

There is nothing in the user manual about it. DV control in the xl2 is used when you are recording from a connected device. Why this would have anything to do with how the xl2 records to tape is beyond me. What changes when you turn this feature off confuses me. By the way, I have had these kind of problems with an XL2 (i’ll try the fix above), an optura xi, and a couple of zr 80s. The xl1 manual does say to connect the firewire cable to the cam first. It’s very frustrating.
