Correct me if I’m wrong.

I can’t imagine this actually working. Too many variables. The cam’s sensitivity and settings. How wide the shot. The saturation of the subject’s face. Any ambient light. The color of the walls and floor. The distance from the subject to b.g. Any reflective surfaces. The type of lamps.

I suppose as a learning tool to understand how adding different lights will effect an image. But very limited value.

Advantage being it is mounted under the camera sandwiched between cam and tripod. Takes up little room. Handles the preamp of the sound so cam’s preamp can be turned down. Very good headphone monitoring. Does have RTN plug if you want to check for output from cam.

Way better than beachtek in every way. Will outlast your cam. Does not beat double system but does give you a neat package for run and gun.

How were you monitoring the live event? Were you using the headphone output on your camera? When you were recording did you notice two different levels on your cam’s audio meters? I’ve experienced two different circumstances for this type of problem. The first is you are hearing the clean feed but not recording it. The other is the camera is not playing it back out. If it is a playback issue you can try internal playback setting on your cam. Try L/L or R/R or Stereo and see if any playback the clean audio. You might want to also check the settings for record. Most cams can be set to plug into say channel one but record to both. If that were the case and channel one was the shotgun you may not have recorded the clean audio. Good practice to playback some sound check before a critical event. Another possible fix is to ask the audio tech’s who operated the board if they recorded the mix. If so, use it.

Why would ignoring permissions help me to set permissions on the raid? My purpose here is to have each user have a private folder of media that can’t be viewed or trashed or changed by other users. So for example I want user 1 to have their own private folder. The admin however would have full read and write privileges.

I’ve tried partitioning the drive and setting permissions for each partition. I’ve tried creating folders for each each user account and setting permissions for both the folder and individual files within. Nothing sticks.

[Chris Gordon] “OS X normally mounts removable drives with the “noowners” option. This ignores any file ownerships on the entire volume. From “Get Info” on the drive, uncheck the “Ignore ownership on this volume” option in “Sharing & Permissions”. The following article has some discussion on this. Hopefully this will help some. I’m also assuming you’ve formatted the drives as HFS+. FAT does not have permissions/owners.”

I did not format as HFS+FAT. I used MacOS extended.

I understand that removable drives, since they move to different computers, don’t normally have assigned permissions. But it still should be possible. An Admin could always change them.
