My guess is there are cheaper ones. The TA3 plug according to markertek is an $8 part. the rest is just a stereo miniplug.

That said: SD’s is excellent quality and does not pull out as easy as some mini’s do.

Justin and Bret,

I have never made this mistake but just wanted to comment that your explanations are crystal and help me understand the point of “open in timeline”. (It should be worded “open in a new timeline”) As well as how to recoup from an accidental mess.

A clip can actually become whatever you like. If I follow fully, it replaces the saving timelines in the browser the way you could with Fcp legacy as well as making modifications such as color correction, setting in and out points – sub-clips as it were. Granted you can also just create new projects and duping them as you go but I miss sub clips and creating short sequences of my project that I can paste into the larger project. This feature kind of does both. Yes?

Does the original clip remain in the browser and the new clip have its own name? Or are these destructive changes?
If so I could dupe the clip before opening in time line.

I have one shot tilting up a figure from shoe to cu on face that is at 50% speed and plays back a bit jerky if that is the right term. I assume these options you mention would help?

How do I set them?

Something is buggy with my system… I think. First I tried the batch change duration before my first post and it didn’t apply. Later it did. Then I just tried the + duration with one clip highlighted. I added 20 frames. Clicked enter and it left a 20 frame gab before the highlighted clip. Tried this three times with same result. Any ideas what I am doing wrong. Not getting crashes or anything and all else seems stable.

I am working on a music video with lots of stills and freeze frames so doing a lot of these mods.

Thanks I tried that like 6 times before posting. Was working fine with a single clip but not more than one. Tried it again and it worked. Can’t think of what I was doing wrong. Oh well.

Yes I would export for printing stills. But if I am just using the stills as part of a video is there any quality advantage to exporting and importing vs. just creating them within FCP X?

Yes I see the advantages of doing it on the timeline. But on stills that I am using for more than one project or purpose I’d like to pre grade and then fine tune on the timeline. That way I have basic correction done if I need it for another project. It’s not a big thing and I very well might end up agreeing with you. But I was confused by not being able to it when I opened a browser still in the inspector.

This is better quality than just Create Freeze Frames? I know how to do both. The export one is more work but I’m willing if the result is better.

Ok I got notes to show up in notes folder rather than in the inboxes of open email accounts. And I know notes from the ipad and iphone are backed up in icloud but it was still weird to have them show up in MAIL when I didn’t do anything to have that happen.
