thanks for that tutorial link. very cool. it gives me some options. i really like the idea of developing this solely in AE and then importing it into Flash for more optimized SWF exports.

thanks for the tip. i never even thought of Swishmax. unfortunately i’m working on a mac and as far as i know they don’t make a mac installer for Swishmax. bummer.

Thanks everyone for their responses. Really good advice to ponder. I like the idea of importing the finished AE into Flash for a reasonably-sized SWF export.

I just wanted to clarify that i do realize that the demo i provided a link to was created in flash. I was just inquiring as whether i could create something similar, both in effect and in file size, without using flash. it sounds like it will be a challenge, but there are ways to pull it off by following the “rules”.

considering the demo i provided, can anyone possibly guess as to how large an SWF file this would be if it had been developed and exported from AE? i’m sure this would be a question from my client as well, especially if i’m going to push for AE.

    thanks

Thanks for posting this question in reference to that video…a worthy goal indeed. I am an editor and fairly new to AE but realize the power of it and I am interested in that very style of graphical use. I wish you luck with your project as well.

Your website is AMAZING! Really beautiful work. I have always wondered how/where those textures are created for use in layered AE projects. Obviously I’m not looking to copy someone’s style but just want to understand the core basics of creating those assets and how to manipulate them.

    Thanks for inspiring me!

I am having the same problem with my DVX100A in the past month. My camera is a little over 1 yr old. Exactly the issue you noted…The iris wheel f-stop settings jumping all around when rolled even slightly, or the wheel will sometimes do nothing when rolled. I am getting frustrated. Please let me know how you make out.

    cheers,
