So in the capture settings, I was using ‘uncompressed’. Someone who knows more than I do looked at the files. He recommended capturing with the DV compression.

That works great and is much smaller.

*Is there a head cleaner that you recommend or all they all the same?
*Other than cleaning the head, what can help to reduce dropped frames?
*I have the project settings:ntsc/dv widescreen 48 kHz. What about compression when ‘digitizing’? Any other settings that might be wrong?

I have another PD170, that I will try to use on Monday. It has less hours and I will see if I get better quality from it.
