    Hey guys, thanks for your input.
    I did mean the preview when I said “smooth”. I will try reducing the resolution.
    I have tried both the 50p & 25p outputs from the camera.
    I was recently advised in another forum to convert the files to mpeg2 before importing into Vegas for editing, then render to mpg using the standard DVD template?
    What I can’t understand is: as with nearly all the new “low end” HD camcorders on the market these days. If you shoot in HD, then have to convert the file to something you can work with, ending up with a standard 720×576 25fps output, then what is the point of shooting 1920 x 1080 50p in the first place? Surely you would lose whatever quality you start off with on the way down to the final output?
    I would be very keen to find out which software other “amateur” video heads are using to create & store home movies.
