What are some of the specific situations bogging you down?
I used to feel the same way dealing with complex sequences. Now I think I’m much faster in Avid than I ever was in FCP.

If your worried about drive space, edit in 422 then transcode only the final picture to HQ.

I can honestly say I would be far more likely to adopt X if there were a more normalish timeline. Some sort of hybrid between X and Pr.

I’m a stubborn legacy user who feels more comfortable when all media is transcoded to Prores. I’m so fast in 7 why would I mess that up? Transcode while I sleep. When 7 is gone soon, my natural reaction will be to edit on Premiere for the easy and safe transition, but at the same time use X for quick projects while it continues to grow. I think using both could be effective.

I’m fine to wait if that were the case. I can easily keep my living for a year on the oldish tower I have while I make the transition from FCP7 to CS6. If it’s a year that I have to wait to stay on Mac it’s worth it to me. If it’s longer or never then a PC it will be. And obviously my needs aren’t the same as everyone.

What about the theory that they ditched it, then reconsidered after the reaction, now they need time to actually update it?
The silent treatment is reason enough to explore other options but I think it’ll have an update. I could also be delusional. -

Exactly. Maybe a monster PC for work projects and a new Macbook Pro for everyday use and/or work projects. Bilingual. Probably cheaper for those two than one Mac Pro anyway.

My editor friend went Hac. He’s very happy with it, still on FCP7 and will be moving to CS6 or Smoke. If he goes to Pr and for some reason his Hac isn’t working out, he’ll be fine re-learning Windows. Change can be good. But yea, he has a powerful computer with OS for a great price and it does everything he needs, so all good for now.
