    Hello,
I’m using a Sony NEX FS100 camera. When I play the footage straight from the camera (or from SD card or USB stick) on my HD monitor, the image looks fine. But as soon as I import in FCP 7 or 10 the image is jagged, jittering, stuttering and quality looks like VHS! I tried every setting in the camera and in FCP. It doesn’t change. This bad image is worst during a camera movement, especially a pan.

    I use a Imac 27 inch late 2009.
processor 2.8 GHz intel Core i7
    memory 12 GB 1067 MHz DDR 3
graphics ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)

What can I do? I’m based in Madagascar and not much other Mac users here…

  • Hello Gerard, we make educational documentaries in Madagascar for over 10 years. Always shot on a Ikegamy DV7-camera. A year ago we bought a Sony NEX FS100 and an IMac i7 with it. It runs FCP 7 and 10.
We have EXACT the same problems. Images played direct from the camera on a HD monitor look great. But as soon I import them in FCP 7 or 10, they look shaky, jiggling, jittering (I don’t know the right expression in English)and quality looks bad! It is clear during a pan movement of the camera.
    Did you find a solution?

BUT!footage shot with my old camera (looks good on my old G5 ppc computer) has the same problem in the Imac! It falters (is that a good word?)
Please help me. Even in Madagascar it’s time to change to HD films.
    Thanks,
    Coen, Cineroutes Madagascar
