FCP import & work AVCHD footage
Hi there,
I hope somebody has gone through the same interlaced/progressive hell I’m going through:
I have to deliver a tv show at 1080 50i (25i) – So, I went and recorded a test with the sony hxr -nx5n camera at 1080i. This left me with a bunch of .MTS files.
Next i’ve imported these items into FCP using log&transfer and generated prores files.I edited my footage just fine, did some color correction and exported it via Sony Content Browser, using the HD422 1080i50 preset with an MXF wrapper (tv station requirements)
This is where the problem appears; every horizontal or vertical camera movement looks jagged (I would normally change the field order to none if I was doing something progressive for web delivery, but in this case I’m supposed to deliver 50i)
Has anyone gone through a similar problem here? I know the camera to start with isn’t great but it should handle a standard pan. Is there anything I might be missing in the log&transfer settings?

I’m using a Sony NEX FS100 camera. When I play the footage straight from the camera (or from SD card or USB stick) on my HD monitor, the image looks fine. But as soon as I import in FCP 7 or 10 the image is jagged, jittering, stuttering and quality looks like VHS! I tried every setting in the camera and in FCP. It doesn’t change. This bad image is worst during a camera movement, especially a pan.I use a Imac 27 inch late 2009.
