Also, I know it sounds obvious, but cycle the power of the Mojo and reboot. Solves ALOT of weird Mojo problems 🙂

  • Are you talking about an Avid Mojo on that firewire port or just a camera or deck for digitizing?

A camera or deck will do just fine.

As for a Mojo, depends on the laptop and card. A cheap firewire card in the slot will not work. Too slow. Also, either way you can definately NOT digitize via Mojo to the external USB drives, only internal drive. Check out Avid’s qualified laptops and their specs on the avid site and get something similar.

The only thing the the Avid Mojo is picky about is having its own firewire bus COMPLETELY to itself. Nothing else at all on it. Other than that it co-habitates well. (At least in my experience).

Thank you both, Ned and Walter.
Lot’s of good info, I’m very much still learning.

I think we’ve decided to just buy a Decklink SP card for now and wait to purchase a Kona 2 or Multibridge Extreme in 6 months or so when consumer HD-DVDs come to market.

    Thank you again!
