I think a videographer is more like a cameraman who makes decisions in certain situations, as in the case of an event videographer.

I’m talking of the Letus 35 “ECONOMY.” It’s the lower priced version of the Letus35 Extreme. Looking at the comparison chart (at the Letus website), the only major differences I can see are the plastic construction of the economy (as compared to aluminum of the extreme) and the new condenser of the extreme. Does the new condenser offer much benefit to justify paying an additional of $300?

Hey guys, how about the Letus 35 Economy? No need for a separate flip module because image is already upright. Light loss (for the adapter alone) is .5 stop only. I’m thinking of buying one next month. Is it as good, if not better, than the Brevis 35. I haven’t seen both because I don’t know of anyone here (Manila, Philippines) who owns them. Thanks.

Try the Velbon DV7000. It’s very very cheap at only $110. If you don’t like it, just toss it… or send it to me for Christmas.

I have B&H website open in another tab in my web browser right now. It says that the Sony PMW-EX1 has a 24p mode. Is it really progressive or interpolated. Is it better than the Canon XL H1 in this aspect (I understand that the XL H1 does not shoot real progressive)?

Since bigger sensors mean shallower depth of field, then Sony’s EX1 DOF should be noticeably shallower than the XLh1’s. Am I right in assuming that?

Those changes are new and are not in our original agreement. But I hate to say no because some of them are big companies. They don’t pay well (because a lot of other video productions are willing to take my place) but they make my portfolio of clients look impressive. However, this is still business so they have to pay for my services. Now my question is, do I have to insist on getting paid for the extra work and risk losing the next projects for these clients? They have more projects for me waiting in the pipeline. Or at least do you suggest that I give them 3 free hours (of edit)and just charge a minimal fee after that?

The first two or three tapes are new ones. The next tapes were re-use tapes. The entire recorder unit is about USD350, but that’s only an estimate. The Canon technician cannot tell how much it is exactly.

The XL1 manual instructs users to clean the heads before an important shoot. What if all your shoots are important corporate videos? Does that mean cleaning the heads on every project? Don’t you think doing that will abrade the heads?

I cleaned the heads. Then after recording about 5 tapes, the striping happened. And yes, I’ve used it in a windy environment when I was shooting in a container yard beside a sea.
