Paul,
I think this individual used an AE plug in called “Sure Target”. You can find it for free at Andrew Kramer’s web site https://www.videocopilot.net. It’s basically a camera control plug in that lets you assign null objects as “Targets”, then the camera will move sequentially between targets. It also gives you the options to add camera shake, roll, adjust focus and add an inertia type effect to the camera. I’ve used it before that the results are very similar to the video posted. Of course you can do everything you see without it, but it’s a much faster work flow.

Tabasco’s fine Dave. Maybe even a little amusing, but not as amusing as a lemon wedge.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, you should wait until your child is 3 years old to give them peanut products and you should never give peanut butter to an infant, because it is a definite choking hazard. In my other life, I am a medical professional so just an FYI.

Should be on your install disk Josh, it is a standard plug-in with AE.

Just a thought, but what if you were to use the shatter effect on a white solid and then luma matte it over your footage? Perhaps add some distortion effect to underlying footage and maybe some movement.

If you have to have the smoke, why don’t you just go with the flow and Key it out then add it back with a particle generator. I use Primatte on DV footage with decent results, but it wont key your smoke on DV footage either. At least not consistently.

Hi Ashley,
What if you were to start with a black solid and add the lens flair affect to it and bring the center points together so you just have a white hot center with no flair. Then key frame it to start dim and get brighter. Precompose it and duplicated it until you have enough lights to position them in the shape of your words. Select them all precompose them and then add the shatter effect to it. I’m not in AE right now but I think that would work.
Hope this helps, or at least sparks your creativity.

I’ve used it and you’re not doing anything wrong. AE simply does a good job of up-sampling footage itself. I assume there is a good use for those algorithms but I just didn’t see any difference in upsizing SD to HD footage that was worth the added render time.

If I’m understating your situation correctly, I often have a similar problem when using my lap top and playing back large Quick Time animation based files. Have you tried setting them as Proxy files until the final render?
