  • Oh, so these are just AVI files! Great. I was worried the device wouldn’t capture to a format I could process easily with virtualdubmod. (Yes I know it’s old, but it’s useful in my job).

    One last question: do you know if laptop support has improved for this device? I see a lot of people using it with laptops on youtube. I was going to order a really top of the line i7 Sager laptop, NP9170, but unsure if this would work with it.

  • Hmmm…well my main reason for asking is because MPEG-2 is very fast in my editing program. I can scrub around on the timeline without any delay, and find specific points in seconds. So fast, I guess, that I always thought it was uncompressed.

    Are there other formats the device captures in that will be just as quick?

    I figured it out. I had “guide layer” checked and that was preventing it from rendering.
