[james carey] “and that’s exactly what may happen. Both Adobe and Avid recognize this opportunity to increase their market share and are already reacting to it. If Apple loses enough of it share, and I hear it has recently climbed to just over 50%, then it won’t matter how good the upgrades eventually may be. By then 3rd party will have deemed support not worth the ROI. The biggest mistake Apple made was its business decision. That is if they really cared about staying in the professional post production marketplace in the first place. A very good case could be made to the opposite.”
The biggest issue I see with people leaving, is that Apple is at a disadvantage hardware wise. They do not have the luxury of a FCP X Windows 7 version. Once people invest in PC hardware to go with Adobe or another, they will definitely not return anytime soon. They might keep existing Mac hardware if its relatively new and buy Adobe Mac version. Lets say it isn’t and it was time for an upgrade. You can forget them migrating back anytime soon. Especially when you can buy the latest and greatest hardware at any moment when it comes to PC. Not to mention price is much cheaper for the most part.

[Simon Ubsdell] “Or are you planning on discontinuing it next week without letting anybody know in advance?”
My sprite went down into my lungs just now when I read that. That was classic :). I was discussing upgrades with Adobe earlier. Price switch is good marketing. I will definitely take advantage of it.
Or rather Are you going to rent out Vegas for the largest video editing expo ever to tell us CS6 is going to shake the foundation of the world. Then release Adobe Acrobat that can line up PDF images with music added in?

I think we know the answer to that nose question.

Well I am not here to flame you, but there is something else wrong. I also have a Mbp and have never had any issues with Adobe products in master collection, which includes them all except Lightroom and Acrobat pretty much.
Not sure what your issue is.

My partner uses the 50mm 1.8 on Nikon and he swears by it, I however use 70-200 sigma 2.8 on 60D. I love that lens, but its not cheap and weighs more than my car almost :). My next lens will be the 28mm 1.8. I need it for close up type shots, but also lower light shots (photo or video) . Let me know your results if you don’t mind. I would love to hear how your new lens works out.
Would really love to hear from anyone who has used the 28mm 1.8.

You need to go into menu and disable movie exposure. This will get you into manual mode for video, then you can press ISO and change :).

Brent,
This is great news 🙂 I didn’t realize they were coming out with one that could do that. The lenses are what give HDSLR cameras their main advantage besides size. Very cool information, thank you. Can I get an adapter for my Canon lenses? -
If you want to do video, at the moment I give 60D the nod. When 7D and 5D get their upgrades, I will certainly purchase a 5D. The few options that are better are not worth 2,000 in my opinion (for video). Pictures are entirely different beast all together.

Ya it lacks the XLR inputs, but you can do external mic input. My main issue is growth factor. Its great to have a few of the H1s to sit around a shoot to capture “everything”, so that you have it for post. As far as main audio, I would probably have to say H4n if you were choosing between the two. As far as being able to grow into more advanced recording that is.
