I’m still cannot open Vegas; but Sony gave me a list of things to try this past week, I just have not had a chance to try them. But when I do, I’ll post the outcome.

    Hey Steve,

Just installed and ran the CCleaner; however, Vegas still did not load. It is still hanging on “Initializing Audio Engine”

Then, I tried clicking on DVD Architect, and I am now geting a message that an error has occurred.

What do you recommend at this point?

I installed 8b from the Sony site last week? Is that the latest?

I’ve never used a registry cleaner…how does it work?

    Hi Michael,

Yes….I’ve changed it to everything in the list. Thank you…any other ideas?

And, of course, Sony help has not sent me any troubleshooting ideas since Wednesday, I guess they’re closed for the holiday.

Yes, in Vista you can Add/Remove programs…it’s just now under “Programs” in control panel.

Vista has everything found in XP…but sometimes options are just moved or named differently (which can be confusing, thank goodness there’s a search tab).

I have searched for the Codec program I installed but I don’t see it under add/remove programs, which may be one of my problems.

My other issue is I don’t really want to uninstalled Ulead, since I use both Vegas & Ulead 11.5 plus depending on the type of video project I’m working with. I did, however, uninstall, Corel PaintShop Pro 2 which is what I believe to have caused Vegas to not work. Ulead is now part of the Corel family, just separte from PaintShop. Life can be so confusing – I should have just stayed with a Mac 🙂

Hi Leslie, I ran the command, but after restarting, Sony still will NOT open.

    Any further ideas?

    Thanks for your help!

I did try some of what you suggested, but Vegas still won’t open.

    Two things:
~ Vegas worked prior to loading Corel products
~ I had installed some Codec pack – but I can’t find where it’s installed at

I know lots of people of “issues” with Norton, I never have…and, I don’t think it’s the problem for the “initializing audio engine” where Vegas hangs up when loading.

Also, someone had asked about the OS I’m using and it’s Vista, which again, I’ve never had a problem using, just a little learning curve at first.

Hi have Norton…yes, I have turned it off and tried to launch Vegas and still did not work.

Sony just had me uninstall again, delete the sony folder, create a new user and install under the new user…that failed also.

Primary software programs I’m using: Adobe CS3 products, Ulead, Roxio, I-tunes

AND then, do you need to render a second time to get the audio?
