I have a similar issue, but when I go double click on the sequence it won’t open. And I can’t open a new sequence either. Any clues?

Final Cut Pro 4, Mac G4, OSX (10.3.4), I use 2 external fire wire drives connected directly to computer, and the video was captured from mini DV. All of this was working fine for more than a year and then last night it started right after I tried to do this transition I never did before. I must have hit something or changed something by accident?
