In my old version of iMovie (iMovie HD 5), files for a project are saved as a package. Locate your your project in Finder, CTL or Right-Click the project’s icon (which represents this package, not just a single document or file), and select “Show Package Contents.” This will open a folder, within which there will be a “Media” folder. Your clips should be in this folder. I do not know if newer versions of iMovie do this differently.

[Scott Sniffen] “…when you apply them, they appear full size and not smaller and higher in the text line.”
Trying this in FCP 5.1.4, with both FCP Text and Boris Title 3D, with a number of fonts, the “TM” is properly superscript, which is how it it built, and the “R” is same height as normal characters, which is how I usually see it used in print. Same observed just placing these characters in TextEdit and other word processing apps. -
Finder Preferences>Sidebar- look to see if desired items for sidebar display have somehow gotten unchecked.

The simplest solution would be hardware-based. You would have to take video out from the cable box and run it through a frame synchronizer. You would need a character generator and switcher with keyer, or a standalone logo inserter to key your logo over the stabilized framesync’d video.
I would be curious to know if it is “legal” to alter or modify in this way, network material that is being displayed to the public.

For starters, make sure in System Preferences>Energy Saver that the “Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible” box is not checked.

Not much info to go on here.
What kind of output are you setting up MPEG Streamclip to do,
and how long a piece of video from the DVD? Three hours for Streamclip to do just about anything does not seem right at all.
How are you “bringing it in,” frame size ok for project, audio sample rate correct, codec?
I’ve done MPEG Streamclip extracts from DVD’s on my home Mac and imported the resulting Quicktimes into our MCA (HP w/XP) at work without issues.
Only time I’ve encountered the dreaded “Spring Buffer’s FillThread” Exception error was after an MC upgrade, and the NVidia driver needed to be updated. -
[Zane Barker] “Sorry but it dose not sound like that at all, it it was the battery the computer wold work fine it would just not keep the time when you turn the computer off.
“
I have had actual instances of battery failure causing the monitor to not fire up on start. The battery does a lot more than just keep the clock running. However, the PMU reset was a good call. i’ve only had to resort to that once or twice ever, so that solution (and the “reset the PRAM” chestnut) didn’t come to mind right away.
In answer to the OP’s followup question (and an FAQ besides) here’s some info on said battery:Mac Logic board battery part numbers from different suppliers/mfrs:
Tadiran Lithium Inorganic TL 5101 (purple body)
Radio Shack 23-026 (the Tadiran battery convenient but way more expensive)
NuPower ER 14250 (OWC/macsales.com, others(yellow body))
ABLE 3.6V http://www.mac-battery.com
SAFT LS 14250 C 1/2 AA 3.6 voltBatteriesPlus, a bateries-only retail shop in many cities carries the Tadiran.

A program called “Screen Recycler” allows a networked computer to serve as an extra monitor. A free demonstration version is available, cost is €19.95.

VGA to Video converters are available from many manufacturers, such as Scan Do, BlackBox, Focus Enhancements, AverMedia and others. Video quality generally is proportional to price. Check online suppliers like B&H, Markertek, etc. I do know some people who have gotten quite usable results shooting an LCD monitor with their camera, carefully framed and on a very stable mount, shielded from extraneous light.
