you should view the puget articles on premiere and speed. it has computer parts it checks speed on and directly compares them.

from what i can remember, adobe doesn’t fully support DNG RAW. oh, it will import some versions, (not 3.1 though)and it will apply color corrections on its own without giving you full access to the RAW color. part of this built in grade probably also has a form of auto levels. Also, its pixel window is different than other programs, so the pixels to the left and right will get cropped. i don’t believe they ever finished support for it. At least you found resolve.

like export out the original log? just don’t apply any color grading! if this is what he meant, then he should know that as soon as you place anything into a premiere sequence, it clips the color gamut to rec. 709 permanently. only matters if your footage was originally in a larger gamut. you could use XML as a workaround to keep large gamut footage for resolve.

i’ll answer in a purely technical way. if it was 8 bit, you can export 8 bit unless you did denoise as denoising can sometimes create a 10 bit smoothing effect. if not, then just focus on if you want 100% digital copy 1:1(quicktime png or image sequence) or a good enough copy that the eye can’t tell and can be generational loss about 5 times before human visible like cineform level 4,5,dhxhd/hr or prores 444,422HQ. (lookup the PSNR values/whitepapers to determine that). project manager can consolidate clips if you’re sharing.

  • best post above. counterbalance for sure, doesn’t matter how light it is, after 16 hours, a one pound pole will feel like 50lb if you are not the middle fulcrum. get the longest you can get!

  • i’d recommend high shutter because its harder to key blurred objects like hair, fingers. then add motion blur in post.
i’d do optical zoom lens not digital zoom as that will degrade footage. or move camera closer to subject. 4k helps for punch ins though if zoom lens unavailable.
