I have used CS3 and CS4 on same computer some time now for a while, no problem. But hey, you can always uninstall if you get into a jam. I’m sure CS2 will be fine with CS3. Just make sure its a different folder.

the reason sorenson squeeze gets file sizes so small is not only 2 pass, but it can do a trick called interpolate half frame rate. It will encode video at half the framerate then encode a flag in flash to tell it to playback smooth with cpu added fake “tween” frames.

sorry bout that, I’m a little tired. Since you are using strange sizes, there is no preset for you. You will have to use CS4’s custom Adobe Media Encoder.

    Select Edit > Export Settings.

The Export Settings dialog box appears. This dialog box lets you perform the following actions:

Specify alternate encoding settings to deliver video for different bandwidths and applications.

Crop and resize the video clip to alter its dimensions.

rendering at: is your composition size.
stretch to: is a bicubic resizing algorithm

I don’t know what your final destination is dvd, etc. but final renders always look best if they don’t get resized, that goes for original media too.
If you really want to stay in a pixel size of your choosing, select custom and uncheck
lock aspect ratio to 175:96 (1.82) in output module
    that’s a force setting.

In media encoder, use 4:3 aspect ratio and in output module, stretch to format square pixel stretch instead.

I get them sometimes too. Try working in a file project setting 32bpc.

  • 3dmax uses backwards x,y,z coordinate system. There’s a tutorial which Andrew Kramer does which is very helpful. So, you either have 3dmax work right or AE, not both. Your boujou solving is wrong.

That’s what the reinterlacer from revision does. It can split fields so that they pause where you want for good dvd menus and combined progressive effects. It’s just an option to consider if you want to keep interlaced, which will look more tv real, not film real. Just a thought.

If you output to a 8bpc file and add noise to try to hide banding, then yes, a mpeg2 encode will bring it back out again. Computers see even more noise than our eyes do. hence green screening, etc.
