I tried several things and clone stamp is still the fastest until someone programs a custom pixel plugger. The reason is, you would have to exclude common large clusters of pixels and only search for 2 pixels in length that are higher in luminance than surrounding area. Maltonnon you listening? There is a pixel sampler he codes all the time. He could become rich and famous.

don’t they also make a mosaic effect when you press them? Try AE’s mosaic filter, displacement map, and mesh warp. Lemme go smash my hand into my 50″ HD LCD and I’ll get back to you what it looks like.

too bad the colors are all different, it seems very close to a “plug holes” command in a color keyer based on pixel size and hue which would work fantastic.

The Preference folder is located inside your AE folder, so before nuking the c:, you will want to back up that file as well. It won’t be compatible with a newer verion of AE so don’t upgrade or downgrade after the reinstall. As for other files, AE seems to contain everything it needs in the *.aep. Sure there’s temp files, but those just speed up audio renders and such. I’ve never seen AE fail from reintroducing original files after a wipe.

This sound like a blending mode such as color or hue, that way you can feather garbage matte out a dup layer and not worry about shadows etc.
Simply do a rough hand track and layer over a blending layer so that it changes the stain’s hue/color to the rest of the shirt while retaining its respective shadows/highlights in the b/w world.

Try out the film fix demo and find out. Since its random, logoaway won’t work, but if you send me a pic of the dots, I can see what AE can do. I’ll ask Maltannon about pixelsampler. I’m sure he could make a dot remover since his project is 99% there.

if they are bright, you could create an auto mask cutoff matte based on luminance. or try this demo

I’ll throw some thoughts out.
1. turn off multiprocessing, you only have 4gb RAM, not enough to not crash.
2. Prevent DLL Address Space Fragmentation can cause crashes if left on in rare cases.
3. don’t have any other programs running in the background
4. set Maximum Memory Usage: 90%
Maximum RAM Cache Size: 40% -
I would fiddle with transparency settings in the keyer, garbage mattes etc. or try a demo of primatte, it is programmed specifically to deal with glass reflections.
