    Hi Warren

This is just the ticket, the problem is that it is not available quite yet and shipping to me (South Africa) would be costly and also not guaranteed. Running two Nvidia GT 120’s is an option but the caveats are many and Color MIGHT not work.

Will have to see what shipping options I have for the DVI to MDP adapter or perhaps a KVM on a larger system where I have more than two or three editing Mac’s.

Think I should go the MDP=>DVI route and plug two 24″ HD Samsungs displays into the Mac Pro, one using the above adapter the other into the dual link DVI. Hope they work or else my ass is grass.

Future edit suites will probably be dual Apple LED once the MDP becomes a more adopted standard, or Apple drops the DVI and places two MDP ports on their graphics cards. C’mon already….

Thanks for the responses so far, appreciate your thoughts.

  • Hi Neil

Thanks, I doubt that they will use uncompressed SD or HD so the pipeline could be just the ticket for them. Let me discuss with the client if they need uncompressed or if they are fine with a client MAC capturing over gigabit. I take it a machine needs to be connected to the pipeline to capture the incoming feed from it.

Thanks for this, let me see how this will fit together for them.

    Best Regards,
    Chris

  • Hi Bouke

Thanks, I will play around with the software, should be quite useful in the future for some of our clients.

Will let you know how this works.

  • Hi Bouke

The TC source would either be time of day from each camera feed in SDI or (depending on various factors) a TC-Generator synching over TC BNC.

If you think it will work let me know a bit more, needs to be SDI and HD-SDI though.

    Thanks
    Chris

  • Hi Erik

This does seem to be an attractive box, let me get this straight, 4 channel SDI capture in SD with the QUAD box right? If HD-SDI is required then 2x HD-Dual boxes for 4 channels. Pretty nifty, scheduling and transcoding without the need for capture cards or Xserves to write to XSAN. What is the amount of video that can be stored on the unit before it needs to be transferred to permanent storage?

    Thanks and regards,
    Chris
