    Hi

I am editing together a promo and the material is XDCAM HD 1080i50. When rendering sections in my sequence which is set to XDCAM HD 1080i50 VBR the rendering times are frustratingly slow. On activity monitor CPU usage never reaches more than 13% on any of the cores.

This is on a Mac Pro 2 2.26 with 10.5.6 and FCS 6.05 on 6GB RAM. I have verified the same behaviour on another edit station where renders are slow and the CPU’s never seem to be getting up to steam. Where is the bottleneck as my deadline will break me at the current render speed.

    Thanks
    Chris

The codec is the bottle neck. You might as well be rendering HDV.

Change your sequence codec to ProRes it should speed it way up.
