Okay, we’ve attempted to do this on our intern’s FCP system. The Avid codecs installed into the Quicktime plug-ins, but they don’t appear when trying to export inside FCP. We see all the other codecs, but not the new Avid ones. Was there another step that we’ve missed? We’re going back to the Avid site for more info. Thanks! chris

Sorry, we don’t have a Final Cut system of our own. Is ProRes an output Codec itself? Thanks! chris

Thanks David! I’ve downloaded it, but when I try to run it, the installer says “you already have a later version of ProRes installed on your system…” Ermmmm. I checked, and there doesn’t seem to be a “later” version of ProRes for Windows. I’ll keep whacking at it! Thanks! chris

Hello! I’m on the opposite end of this issue, where our Avid will not import the Quicktime file. I believe the issue is the Quicktime Codecs on the PC version. The Avid will import files with the Codecs that are installed in Quicktime, but several of them are apparently not the same (despite the name) when they come out of Final Cut Pro. Hence the audio works, but the video is blank.
If the project is not too long, you could try exporting with the “None” codec, which works well for 60 second things, maybe up to a few minutes. If Sorensen 3 is available, I like that one as well. Good luck!
