Just tried an assemble edit with Premiere 8.1–still the same behavior, it just says “Exporting….” and never starts the XDCAM deck.

FCP7 continues to be my workaround for exporting to tape.

I didn’t get a chance to try 8.1 today but will try to do that first thing tomorrow and report my results.

Peter: thanks very much for the quick reply.

I’m using Premiere Pro 2014CC, its About dialog says “2014.0.1 Release” and “8.0.1 (21) Build”

OS is 10.8.5, AJA drivers are 10.5.2.

I’ll try setting preroll to 5 seconds and see how that goes. It also looks like I need to upgrade to 8.1… I’d been working on projects and have been ignoring the CC updates.

    Thanks again.

  • Well son of a bleep. You got it. They set the scale INEXPLICABLY to 80 percent.

THANKS!!! I really appreciate it and might even get a good night’s sleep tonight.

  • Thanks for the very quick reply. I follow what you’re saying, but let me describe what I’m doing and maybe you can figure out where I’m going wrong.

    * Since I need to match the After Effects version of the credit, I do a Composition->Save Frame As->Photoshop Layers… from one of my credit comps.

    * In that credit comp, there is 60 pixel (not point, thank you for that, I should have remembered the difference) text that I need to match.

    * I bring the Photoshop export into Photoshop. The text is visible but not editable. So I bring out my text tool to create text, after changing Preferences->Units and Rulers->Type to Pixels instead of Points.

    * If I create new text, even though in Photoshop it says 60 pixels, the text is too large. I have to change it to 48 pixels to match my AE exported guide.

Resolution of the document in Photoshop is 72 pixels/inch.

OK, my device control is working again.

The only thing I apparently did to get things working is to capture some HDV video via HDV Firewire deck control.

I’d forgotten I’d done so, went to see if deck control was working, remembered that it was set to HDV, then switched back to Blackmagic NTSC 29.97 and it was working again.

I’ll note that I _had_ switched deck control settings back and forth to other options in an attempt to get it working again, but I hadn’t actually captured any video with the changed settings.

I tried it a couple of times this morning and no, it still reports “no communication” after wake from sleep.

I installed 6.6.2 (which updated firmware) and I’m still seeing the same problem. FCP reports “no communication,” and Blackmagic Deck Control buttons can control the deck.

I did just notice that the left hand side of the Blackmagic Deck Control window also reports “No Comm.” But, the right-hand buttons control the deck just fine.

I’ll also note that this is using FCP 6.0.1–once this project is done I will upgrade to 10.4.11 and thus to 6.0.4, in case that might be a factor.

    Thanks for any help.
