  • After further testing, I attempted to reload problematic BPAV folders back onto an S x S card and then reimport using Clip Viewer instead of Shotput. Then I opened XDCAM Transfer and ABRACADABRA the troublesome longer clips showed and were available for import. Therefore it must be an issue with Shotput and longer clips!

  • This is exactly what Shotput does. It creates an automated method of creating new folders to put your BPAVs into without manually creating new folders. And it does it to up to three drives. Just can’t imagine that Shotput it losing info in this process…

the projector basically takes a direct feed from a PC which I’m not terribly familiar with, but know enough to say that because the PC is just playing a QT file, it displays the full QT frame as opposed to a 4:3 frame.

the projector can’t be refocused to crop out any of the information…secondly, i want the QT file to only contain the same frame space as the 4:3 so that if the client wants to play it on their PC without the projector, they won’t come back to me and say- what’s that black around the outside of the image?

I myself notice a quality loss that may also be noticeable by the client…I never asked about actually blowing up the image as I’ve always known that that creates a small but still present quality loss…I am simply looking for a method to make the QT playback imitate the 4:3 monitor playback…

This is one method, however you lose reolution by zooming in…and I can’t sacrifice any when using DV…

  • Charles, in attempting to solve this whole which-compression software-works best dilemma- I have found that Popwire know about the Compression Master 4 issues with DVD studio 4. I received this from them: “We have discovered a issue with this and are looking into it right now actually. I will place your ticket On Hold until we have a fix.” In the meantime I purchased BitVice and have found that it’s gamma correction function is actually wreaking a slight havoc on my film. Have you used this program enough to know any solutions? It is only one scene and it causes a sort of opening and closing iris effect on the image as the software attempts to gauge what the proper gamma is for the scene. BitVice tech support hasn’t given any advice as of yet.

  • Charles, I’ve tried the Compression master demo and it seems pretty good. But for some reason when I attempt to burn the final product onto DVD in DVD studio it reads Internal muxer error and won’t create a disc. Is there a setting that I’m doing wrong in CM4?
