Nope.
All they need to do is make available a prosumer stand alone Blu Ray RECORDER that has at least component video, and preferably HDMI, inputs. Then the Blu Ray market will take off. This is the same old Sony Betamax classic argument all over again. The movie studios fought video RECORDERS from day one. All Hollywood wants you to do is consume their swill, they don’t want you to be able to create and distribute content. That is the real reason Blu-Ray hasn’t “taken off.”Dual 2.5 G5, IO, Kona LH, IO, Medea Raid, UL4D, NVidia 6800, 4Gig RAM

Likewise!
I just got through configuring a new Nehalem machine
with all the Mac and Windows programs I own,
with all the requisite plug-ins installed on both platforms,
and that took a full week of installations and entering endless serial numbers,
rebooting after installs, etc.
When I think of all the plug-ins that need to be installed
and may or may not work with FCP 7 until they are upgraded:
Magic Bullet Looks
Colorista
Boris Continuum 6
Sapphire Effects
Boris Red
Instant HD
All the Trapcode plugs
FX Factory
Core Melt
Nattress
Tiffen DFX
etc.
Not to mention CS4 Production Premium apps possibly having conflicts…I am also wondering about video card support from Matrox, AJA, Blackmagic etc.
Raid driver support…
I will definitely let the brave souls in between projects take this release for many test drives before I commit to doing the new install! Everything is working so well together now,
I really hate to screw that up!Dual 2.5 G5, IO, Kona LH, IO, Medea Raid, UL4D, NVidia 6800, 4Gig RAM

Another thing you should always do is check that the red “record” button is always on in your camera viewfinder when recording to the FS. If there is any problem with the FS at all, the red record button will not be lit.

Graham,
Definitely try to repair the clip in the Firestore itself.
It won’t affect the other “good clips.”
Also from now on, shoot only in Quicktime format with the Firestore.
Your log and capture FCP P2 nightmares will end,
and you can just drag the QT files into a FCP bin and start editing immediately.
When I have had either a battery go dead or the Firewire cable pulled while shooting,
I have still always been able to extract the QT file on the FS-100 up until the “accident” happened. P2 mode on the FS is less forgiving.Dual 2.5 G5, IO, Kona LH, IO, Medea Raid, UL4D, NVidia 6800, 4Gig RAM

I need to start having a “stock answers” list for the Firestore…
First off, never shoot in P2 mode on the FS100. Always shoot in Quicktime mode and you will never ever have this problem. You just drag the QT FS clips into a FCP Bin and start editing, no “log and transfer” step ever needed. This is one of the many advantages of using the FS versus P2 cards in the first place…

than pay $125 and more to rent a kit (aside from time involved to pick up and return, and that assumes a location where they’re even accessible).
Most rental houses I have used deliver and pick up lighting kits for free. Usually at the hotel I am at, or even at the car rental place at the airport. Of course your mileage, (and the services of your rental house), may vary…
It is very good to know the SouthWest production rate though.
Sounds like the way to go!Dual 2.5 G5, IO, Kona LH, IO, Medea Raid, UL4D, NVidia 6800, 4Gig RAM

June 23, 2009 at 5:56 am in reply to: Is the hmc 150 really better than the hpx 170?Yes unfortunately I am still using the old HVX-200, so the HMC-150 is much better at low light performance, just like its siblings the 200A and 170.
