I am curious though. Where did you see any post from Jan talking about this issue?? I did a search on the Cow before I posted this, and didn’t see a single post on the issue, only one about Red Rock filters and vignetting. Are you also talking from personal experience about this issue?? Have you ever used any adaptor lenses on your HVX before?
Filters and glass are glass, it really shouldn’t make a difference if one is used on an SD or HD camera should it?? It surely hasn’t mattered on some Sony SD and HD cameras I have swapped lens adaptors with. Again have you personally experienced this quality degradation yourself?

Did you actually find a recorder that had component inputs anywhere??
I have been looking all over for one after my Philips DVD-R standalone died last month.

Ahh, once again why I love the Firestore, shooting in Quicktime mode and just dragging into a FCP bin to edit with immediately. I have never had to experience this problem, or the vagaries of hidden menus in the FCP log and transfer window…

Actually it all depends on where your color corrected master is headed for. Actually S-VHS and component analog video out monitoring are the preferred methods for anything headed to NTSC broadcast, as analog signals need to be 7.5 IRE black versus the 0 IRE black output by firewire. It is also better to view content for most DVD players on analog sets that way as well.
