    Just updated to Sony Vegas 8.0c and right away found one problem. When editing videos I use a TV as a secondary preview device. It is attached to S-Video connection on my video card. I run previews full screen. When doing color corrections with Sony Color Corrector I often use color picker, then I drag it to my TV screen and sample colors I want to neutralize. Just after the update I noticed, that the color picker no longer works when I run preview full screen. When I switch it to window mode, it works. Does anyone have problems with that? What should I do to be able to sample colors in full screen mode?

    Yea, I noticed this the other day. It must be a bug or new behavior because it used to work.

    BTW, just a comment. I would be careful using the S-Video of your graphics card to color correct. You are not getting the true video from that connection and your graphics card may be applying gamma or other adjustments like showing Computer RGB (0-255) instead of Studio RGB (16-235). The only safe way to color correct is via firewire to a monitor or TV or via the Windows Secondary Display of you are working in HD. Firewire will give you the actual DV stream unaltered using the correct gamma and colors just as the would be sent to tape.

    I most definitely agree with John on this color correcting
    issue…color correction can be very tricky….So using
    an “ieee firewire preview” and not your graphics card is
    the best way to ensure color accuracy throughout the
    editing process to finishing.

    I agree, but in my case it worked. To do a slight White Balance adjustment, it was a proven, quick and convenient feature.

    Actually it all depends on where your color corrected master is headed for. Actually S-VHS and component analog video out monitoring are the preferred methods for anything headed to NTSC broadcast, as analog signals need to be 7.5 IRE black versus the 0 IRE black output by firewire. It is also better to view content for most DVD players on analog sets that way as well.

    That is true but not the way it is being done here. The graphics card S-Video out may not be an unaltered signal. It may be applying gamma, brightness, sharpness, etc. to make the picture look better. The correct way is to use a digital-to-analog converter via the firewire port. This is guaranteed to be an unaltered video signal that you can trust.
