I closed both programs, restarted the mac, blew out the PRam and used Disk warrior and it seems to be OK now. Go figure.

    Hope this helps!

I used pacifist to reload QT7.5 and all M100 crashing has stopped. Many thanks.

Hey Bob, thanks for input! I’ll use this equipment appropriately – sounds like it might come in handy the next time I’m building a coral reef! I plugged in my old media 100 and it grabbed the signal right away. It’s going to end up on the web anyway as legacy footage, so a little rolling and a few dropouts won’t cause any heart attacks. I really appreciate your knowledge on this, and now know what decks to insist on the next time 3/4 inch rears it’s ugly head. Thanks to all who posted!
    Kind Regards,
    Chris K.

  • Hey Robert, sorry to have missed your request from June 8. My 8.2.3a system runs on my G4 dual 1.4 with 2 gigs ram and an esata card. I have an P6000 card with lossless with FW. It works really well. I work on FCP a lot but still prefer the m100 interface. The G4 is not quiet, but a decent pair of noise cancelling headphones from Audio Technica will only set you back 90 bucks or so – and boy do they work. I’m seriously worried about being snuck up on while wearing them. I’m using 10.4.11 OS and upgraded to QT 7.6.2 and now have M100 crashes. I’ll have to uninstall that and head back down to 7.5 something. I use a raid I built myself from Mac Gurus and highly recommend those guys. They answer the phone and all emails promptly. I like their knowledge base and they won’t over sell you. 4TB with card/drives and box will run around 800 bucks. I’ve been using their raid for 3.5 years now and only a few minor problems they helped me fix for $0.00. Best of luck. It’s a good system, and I will be moving to M100 HD after my next few gigs. Best of Luck!
    Kind Regards,
    Chris K.

I’ve worked with the pioneer dvr320 which has fw inputs. you might be able to daisy chain these fw decks with a fw splitter. It’s a little cleaner via fw. I’ve also used the pioneer dvr220. You might be able to find them on ebay. Best of Luck!

  • Jerome, you’re welcome. I’ve been in a pinch many times before and good people here like Floh, Wickam, Douglas Spotted Eagle, Walter, Shane and others have been there to help. Glad what little knowledge I have helped! Best of Luck!
    Kind Regards,

  • anything saved in your backup bin that’s useful? if you can find a pre render program – I’d force render in small segments (30 secs or so) – If it crashes in a particular segment, there could be corrupt media in that segment. Also, you can try to make a new program and copy paste clips to that in case the program file is corrupt. I’ll be awake for a while so keep posting. best of luck

June 6, 2009 at 4:23 am in reply to: Slot Configuration M100i 8.2.3

Floh and Wick, thank you for your efforts. I was digging through some old M100 install pages in a binder I found and – there it was.

    1 Grfx Card
    2 M100
    3 Lossless/daughter card
    4 Open
    5 Sata/SCSI Card
I’ve been using this sata raid from Mac Gurus for 4 or 5 years and it’s been flawless in M100 and FCP!

Hey Floh, No Good! Under Software/Media 100i there was a 7 page June 2005 CPG that only had one slot config for the G5. Any other suggestions?

It’s worked miracles for me Bill. You won’t regret the purchase. DW saved my butt on a network show when about 1TB of footage suddenly went offline. Best of luck

    Kind Regards,
